Two people lost their lives in a multi-vehicle tragedy that occurred on Friday night in North Fresno.

Police from Fresno and other emergency personnel rushed to the area at 10 p.m. A few blocks north of the intersection of Champlain Drive and Friant Road, the three-vehicle crash took place.

Even while it’s not yet clear whether the fireworks had anything to do with the collision, reports indicate that one of the involved automobiles contained pyrotechnics.

A grass fire started close to Rice Road and Friant Road, the exact location of the collision, further escalating the commotion. The quick response of the Fresno Fire Department helped bring the fire under control.
