In yet another somber incident in Tarn-et-Garonne, tragedy struck on Tuesday, December 12th, adding to the recent string of unfortunate events in the region. Following the heartbreaking road accident near Lafrançaise on December 6th and another in Réalville over the weekend, the community is once again in mourning within a span of just a few days.

The latest fatal collision occurred around 1:30 PM on Monday, December 11th, near the town of Verdun-sur-Garonne, south of Montauban. Emergency responders, including firefighters, rushed to the scene on Departmental Road 6, at Avenue Carnot, where a motorcycle and a car had collided in a tragic encounter.

Upon arrival, responders found the motorcyclist in cardiac arrest due to the impact of the collision. Despite their efforts to revive the 44-year-old man, he tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The driver of the car, a 34-year-old individual, sustained minor injuries and, after receiving medical attention, did not require hospitalization.

The local fire department, involving 12 firefighters from Grisolles, Montech, and Verdun-sur-Garonne, actively participated in the incident response. An investigation has been initiated to determine the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate accident.

This recent tragedy further adds to the already heavy toll of road fatalities in Tarn-et-Garonne. Since the beginning of 2023, the department has witnessed a total of 23 lives lost in traffic accidents. The community now mourns yet another loss, emphasizing the urgent need for continued efforts to enhance road safety and prevent further tragedies on the region’s roads.
